Today I'm bringing in a little bit of summer's joy.
Out back we have this birdbath that sits in the dappled shade of a black walnut tree. It's popular with all the birds and squirrels, but I love to watch the robins the most. They don't just wade in and have a drink like some of the other birds. Nope, the robins get in there and really go to town! We are talking 5 minutes of flappin' and splashin' and having a good old time. When they finally finish it's a wonder they can fly they're so wet.
This 4x4 study, which is about 1/2 complete, will help me work things out for a larger painting later this week.
